The bodywork

First it was planned to make just cosmetic changes to my body and give it a nice respray, but Bobo wanted to be sure for reliability and decided to get the shell sandblasted. In the first step, most of the seam sealant was not removed and so Bobo did the job mechanically by himself. The 2nd blasting process gave a OK result showing good bodypanels without any rust (excepting right quarterpanel). Nevertheless some of the welding work was borderline and some shapes were different from what they should have been. So, my body was requesting a very good professional bodyworker to solve all the issues and made me look like it should. All this work was done by Hans Müller-Deck who has know-how and very good skills (www.hans-mueller-deck.de). After arriving on a trailer, Hans (assisted by Bobo) replaced my full floor section including sills, the boot floor, rear valance, lower quarterlight panels, lower door surrounds, both A- pillars, toe board and full front end including all the adaptation necessary for an authentic MK1 look. Especially both inner wings took lots of hours to modify. After approx. 10weeks, I left Hans' bodyshop on 3rd of january 2011. The winter weather conditions on this day let Bobo take me inside a truck to avoid my freshly restored body from snow and salt. See the progress from start to end.
