Here you can see me during a very special treatment done by Bobo. His education and his job became a big advantage for me. It was a kind of enthusiasm to get the best result for the paintwork. Overall, it took much longer time than expected, but should he have hurried ????
A main reason for the delay in paint application was the try to keep me away from corrosion as far as possible. So Bobo followed the official STANDOX built up recommendation for historic cars. A 2K Etch primer was applied first followed by a 2K primer surfacer (Acrylic based).
After forced drying and additional 3 weeks of air drying, Bobo and Guido, a friend, applied putty on the areas which were not smooth enough. For a perfect finish, 2-3 coats of spray-putty were applied afterwards.
After another force drying a lot of sanding work began. All blank metal areas were primered once again with etch primer, before the final 2K primer surfacer was applied.
After all of the outside panels just needed the final sanding process, the floor section was primered and painted underneath. In this case a plastified STANDOX CV- VOC Topcoat was used to give a protection againt stone chipping.
For better appearance, Bobo decided not to use stone chip primer. Bobo wanted to look the paint underneath my body similar to the outer areas. To be sure to resist stone chips, the full paintwork was sticked with 3M protection foil.
I hope it works...
